The Project
GIBLIB is a medical media and learning platform that documents cutting-edge surgical procedures and delivers them through its subscription-based education platform. The "Netflix of medical education". With prestigious partners like Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, and Cedars-Sinai, GIBLIB is transforming how physicians learn and maintain their credentials.
The Task
GIBLIB had inherited a logo, but had never gone through any official branding. As the first Creative Director hired by the company, I led a comprehensive, ground-up "rebrand". This included collaborating with the founders to define the company’s mission and vision, redefining the marketing team’s voice and tone, and helping build the design system for the product team’s first mobile app launch.
Precedent
It's important to know that GIBLIB is currently the only company who is creating accredited medical education content with such high production value.  While most of its competitors are distributing Powerpoint slides, or mounting a tripod at the back of a lecture hall, GIBLIB captures immersive, documentary style footage straight from the operating table. If their productions are Netflix-ready, so must be their brand.
My Contribution
It became clear that the true innovation wasn’t just GIBLIB's educational content itself—but how GIBLIB transformed that content into such a compelling, dynamic format. To communicate this brand promise, we incorporated subtle nods to the natural properties of the prism, which takes a single source of white light and transforms it into a vivid spectrum of color. Since GIBLIB already had a decent sized user-base, we didn't want the brand refresh to be a full departure from their existing logo, and the triangular base of the prism was the perfect visual anchor to the existing logo mark. What we ended up with was a logo mark that was fresh and meaningful, yet pleasantly familiar.
